The Byodo-In Temple celebrated its 50 year anniversary in 2018.

Every year, hundreds of people flock to the magnificent Byodo-In Temple to enjoy Obon, a festive time for families to pass on ancient traditions and celebrate the loved ones and ancestors who came before them. The Temple, which was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii, is a replica of the 11th-century Phoenix Hall in Uji, Japan.

The temple had a major facelift ahead of the 50th celebrations.
